We asked students on our Seeds for the Future program what “Activate Intelligence” means to them.

At the end of 2017, Huawei redefined its vision and mission: Bring digital to every person, home and organization for a fully connected, intelligent world. Huawei’s new vision is a call for an intelligent world powered by artificial intelligence (AI).
In a global social and economic context, intelligence is taking digital transformation to new levels. Underpinned by ICT networks and driven by AI, the Fourth Industrial Revolution is leading us into an intelligent world where all things are sensing, all things are connected, and all things are intelligent. All industries will be driven by data and shared intelligence, heralding a new age of what we call Enterprise Intelligence.
By 2025, the digital economy will account for 24.3% of the global economy and create US$23 trillion of value. At that time, a total of 40 billion smart devices will be connected on a global scale.
AI will have entered a stage of relative ubiquity, with 86% of global companies having adopted AI and data utilization rates hitting 80%. Like air, intelligence will have permeated through every aspect of life, bringing with it enormous opportunities. When we look back to now from 2025, we will see 2018 as a time when the intelligent world was at its infancy. Right now, many governments and enterprises remain in the stage of traditional IT infrastructure.

  • Less than 10% of enterprise applications are deployed on the cloud.
  • Data utilization rates are around 13%.
  • Only 5% of companies have experimented with AI and less than 1% of those have already adopted AI.

Given the huge opportunities and challenges that lie in front of us, we aspire to become a pioneer of the intelligent world, focusing on ICT infrastructure and smart devices. We’re continuing to invest in key enabling technologies such as AI, cloud, big data, IoT, and 5G, and we’re working with our global customers and partners to connect the unconnected and bridge the digital divide. By integrating the physical world and digital world, AI will unleash great potential and ignite the spark of intelligence to build a fully connected, intelligent world.
Themed “Activate Intelligence”, Huawei Connect 2018 will take place in October. Designed to explore how ICT and AI can help businesses and organizations make their mark in the intelligent world, the event will gather the best minds in the industry – including global ICT leaders, industry experts, and ecosystem partners. At the event, Huawei will announce its AI strategy and full-stack solutions for all scenarios.
Together with our partners, we will present innovations and best practices in a number of domains, including AI, cloud, big data, 5G, IoT, video, and more. Visitors will have access to nearly 1,000 summits and forums, and a massive 30,000m2 showroom filled with the latest in digital technology.
