MTN Group and Huawei have jointly launched the PremiumWi-Fi service in Nigeria to improve users’ network experience.

Premium Wi-Fi can track home Wi-Fi performance over seven days, demarcating faults using segment-based speed tests and diagnosing major issues in just one click to rectify problems in the cloud.

Users can also troubleshoot and solve issues themselves using an app, granting far greater control on managing their own broadband performance.

According to MTN Nigeria’s Chief Technical Officer, Mohammed Rufai, PremiumWi-Fi deployment delivers a superior user experience using a range of new technologies.

This is increasingly important giving the sustained rise in smart home devices and services such as video streaming and online gaming, which demand better home network quality.

“Home network experience has become a vital area in improving network quality for us. In addition, we want to solve problems such as Wi-Fi interference, coordination between home network terminals and Wi-Fi coverage which occurs frequently and leads to a large proportion of user complaints.”

Mohammed Rufai, CTO, MTN Nigeria

To improve user experience overall network experience, MTN Group partnered with Huawei to launch the Autonomous Driving Network project, including various innovative practices such as target architecture design, autonomous level evaluation, and high-value use cases of autonomous networks.

With this, we can proactively identify and accurately locate fault points on home networks. It will help us to improve O&M efficiency and reduce customer complaints.”

Daniel Smith, Senior Engineer, MTN Group

In the future, MTN and Huawei will continue to innovate on network automation and intelligence, quickly deploying solutions on the live network to quickly raise user experience.
