Sept 15: China Unicom & Huawei Implement World’s First Commercial Use of Next-Gen Wideband CA ODU

China Unicom Inner Mongolia and Huawei deployed the world’s first commercial use of the next-gen wideband 4CA outdoor unit (ODU) in Hohhot, Inner Mongolia.

    FABs

    • Wideband allows more available spectrum to be aggregated at up to four times the range of existing CA ODUs, with Huawei’s XMC-5D Pro solution increasing ODU CA IBW from 224 MHz to up to 800 MHz and in turn increasing the scenarios in which it can be deployed
    • A single next-gen CA ODU supports up to 5 Gbit/s bandwidth, reducing hardware requirements by 50%+ and accelerating 5G deployment
    • High-bandwidth transmission is achieved by aggregating multiple channels in one ODU device rather than by conventional hardware stacking.
    • The solution increases the transmit power of wideband CA ODUs by 3 dB, reducing antenna diameter by one level, cutting installation space and load-bearing capacity requirements for towers and making deployment easier and faster.
