Huawei RuralLink: ‘Best Mobile Innovation for Emerging Markets’
What it is
- A solution for addressing communication challenges in connecting rural communities (40% of the world’s population is not connected to the Internet.)
What it does
- Uses microwave fronthaul technology in an industry first
- Enables rural sites to share the baseband resources of existing base stations so that independent baseband units (BBU) are not required
- Reduces site power consumption: BBUs are not required and only one RRU and one Channel Expand Antenna are needed to achieve three-sector coverage
- Supplies the entire site with power using just 4 PV modules
- Supports 2G, 3G, and 4G, with 5G evolution possible
