Three Actions to Fast-Track Transition to Highly Autonomous Networks
FutureNet Asia 2023, one of the most highly anticipated ICT events in the Asia-Pacific region, took place in Singapore from October 18 to 19. With over 300 attendees, including prominent leaders from the ICT industry, the event provided a platform for sharing valuable insights on the future of the telecoms industry, focusing on network automation and intelligence.
Steven Zheng, the Chief Marketing Officer of Huawei's ADN solution, delivered the keynote speech, "Value Creation, Cooperation, and Innovation: Accelerating towards Highly Autonomous Networks."

During his speech, he highlighted the growing momentum of the Autonomous Networks (AN) industry, the rapid development of AN standards, and the accelerating commercial use cases of AN. AN is a key foundation of Huawei's all-intelligence strategy. He suggested three actions that can be taken to accelerate the evolution toward Highly Autonomous Networks:
- standards cooperation
- technological innovation
- value creation
1. Standards cooperation: Industry prosperity and leading business success
Based on cutting-edge ideas and concepts, the AN industry emphasizes industry leadership, establishing standards, and expanding partnerships to steer AN practices. These practices enable businesses to achieve leading and successful outcomes through scenario-based innovation, technological innovation, and a closed-loop approach to create value. As a result, more and more companies make significant contributions to the industry as a whole. By mutually benefiting from these industry efforts and practices, more partners can be attracted to join the journey towards building a sustainable and prosperous AN industry.
2. Technological innovation: Innovative large models and new momentum for AN
Leveraging Huawei's AI software and hardware platform and the Pangu large model, more than 100 billion tokens of telecom corpus and a vast amount of historical O&M data are used to perform incremental training and optimization. This has enabled the development of large telecom models that can support AI innovation for various scenario-based applications and facilitate the evolution towards Highly Autonomous Networks, achieving more intelligent interaction between applications and collaborative decision-making.
3. Value Creation: E2E system solutions and CSPs' business success
System solutions must be developed to support CSPs in implementing E2E service provisioning, E2E network O&M, and optimizing user experience throughout the entire lifecycle. These solutions will enable CSPs to launch services quickly, reduce TTM, improve network O&M efficiency, and minimize MTTR. By doing so, CSPs can provide a superior user experience, increase user satisfaction, and decrease churn rate.
The concept of AN has progressed from a vision to large-scale deployment. And Huawei will continue collaborating with customers and industry partners to develop more AN key technologies and scenario-based solutions driven by business value, accelerating the evolution towards Highly Autonomous Networks.
