Nov 28: Zain KSA and Huawei Complete Proof of Concept in Saudi Arabia of World's First E2E FWA Gaming Accelerator

    241128-1

Zain KSA and Huawei have jointly verified Fixed Wireless Access (FWA) Gaming Acceleration at Zain KSA's headquarters in Riyadh.

FWA extends fixed broadband connections, using Customer Premises Equipment (CPE) to receive mobile signals from 5G base stations and convert them into Wi-Fi for household users.

With 25 million in Saudi Arabia, the Gaming Acceleration feature – Service Turbo  –  upgrades the current FWA solution. Under full network load simulated using SpeedTest, the solution ensured high speed and low latency, with a 90% reduction in jitter and a 70% reduction in latency compared to scenarios without this feature.

Service Turbo is primarily implemented through slicing or dedicated bearer. Huawei's 5G CPE Pro 5 identifies gaming traffic and attaches game slicing or dedicated bearers in the Huawei Core Network and RAN for the prioritized scheduling and allocation of network resources for gaming traffic.

This ensures user gaming experience, efficiently allocates limited network resources, and helps Zain KSA offer home broadband users new options.

Nov 27: Huawei and Zain KSA Sucessfully Test Superlink Microwave Solution

    241127-11
Huawei and Zain KSA have successfully completed a Proof of Concept (PoC) test on an Superlink Microwave solution, achieving groundbreaking results. The test is part of the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology (MCIT)'s Universal Service Fund (USF) program.

The PoC link achieved 3.5 Gbps high capacity at 35-km ultra-long-distance with availability reaching 99.999%. It can be smoothly upgraded to up to 8 Gbps in the future.

This milestone marks the first commercial application of Huawei's Superlink solution with universal ODUs (outdoor units).

The critical component is the innovative Quad-band antenna. Designed to support all channels in 6/7/8/11-GHz frequency bands simultaneously, it resolves low-band frequency channel limitations and critical challenges associated with low-band microwave links.

Working with universal ODUs enables the solution to be widely deployed at low cost and high efficiency.

Nov 8: TM Forum, Huawei, and Partners Release Autonomous Networks Levels Evaluation Whitepaper

    241108-2

At TM Forum's Innovate Asia Summit hosted earlier this month in Bangkok, Thailand, TM Forum, Huawei, and industry partners released the Autonomous Networks Levels Evaluation Whitepaper and awarded certificates to the first group of operators to have completed an autonomous network level evaluation.

Autonomous Networks (AN) is a concept jointly proposed by TM Forum and industry partners in 2019, aiming to evolve network infrastructure and operations systems through automation and intelligence. To date, over 60 companies have signed the Autonomous Networks Manifesto, pledging to work towards Level 4 autonomy.

Autonomous Network Level (ANL) measures the automation and intelligence level of operators' networks, ICT infrastructure, agile operations, and all-scenario services. It helps operators understand the:

    • current autonomy level of their networks
    • weaknesses in their AN capabilities
    • gaps between current and target levels
