July News Roundup
July 30: Huawei Optical Access Intelligent OLT Platform OptiXaccess MA 5800T Wins 2024 Red Dot Award

Huawei's OptiXaccess MA5800T received Germany’s 2024 Red Dot Award thanks to its excellent performance and innovative architecture design.
Features
- Ultra-high bandwidth: implements the industry's first 1T ultra-broadband backplane through ultra-high-speed SerDes and low-loss technologies. The backplane can evolve to 2T and supports the coexistence of GPON, 10G PON, 50G PON, and 200G PON.
- Native intelligence: implements the industry's first distributed computing engine through application-level poor-QoE identification and open NaaS capabilities through millisecond-level automatic detection, analysis, and optimization, helping operators move towards intelligent ADN L3.5.
- Deterministic experience: supports E2E deterministic experience, user SLA assurance for specific applications, microsecond-level latency, and nanosecond-level jitter.
- Ultra-high reliability: deploys fans in different areas to realize zero air flow resistance and ensure that the system still works if a single fan becomes faulty. Forwarding protection is improved and services are not affected during upgrades or switchover. Overall reliability is improved to 99.9999%.
- Energy saving: apllies unique five-level intelligent and dynamic energy-saving. Visualized and manageable intelligent meters achieve optimal energy efficiency, realizing high energy efficiency at high loadd and optimal energy consumption at low loads.

- Enables service switching through the backplane, so that all of its main control service interfaces can be used for service traffic.
- Features unified IDU architecture to flexibly scale up and smoothly evolve in a highly cost-effective way.
- Includes a double-sided heatsink to optimize heat dissipation, and comes with ergonomic handles for easy transport and installation.
July 25: Entel Peru and Huawei Complete First Overseas Commercial Use of Dual-Band AAU

Entel Peru has deployed Huawei's 2.3GHz+3.5GHz dualband AAU on a 5G network, marking a first-time commercial use of the innovative solution outside China.
The deployment conclusively demonstrated how the technology simplifies the deployment of TDD (time duplex division) multiband networks.Entel's network achieved the leading commercial peak experience in Peru.
By using dualband AAUs, Entel will achieve the following benefits that will slash OPEX and TCO and enable the large-scale deployment of 5G in Peru:
- Network coverage will improve by 30%
- Average power consumption of base stations will come down by 30%
- No need to rent antennas.
July 19: Huawei Kepler Platform OptiX OSN 9800 K36 Wins Red Dot Design Award 2024

Huawei Kepler Platform OptiX OSN 9800 K36 received the prestigious Red Dot Design Award 2024.
The award recognizes the product’s design excellence in digital intelligence, ultra-high capacity, innovative dual 3D orthogonal architecture, ultra-high integration, and ultra-strong intelligence. These features enable the subrack to seamlessly combine high-quality design with advanced functionality.
July 12: Huawei Wins Digital with Purpose Award for Salmon Protection Solution in Norway
Huawei received the GeSI Digital with Purpose (DWP) Award 2024 and the DWP Biodiversity Award 2024 yesterday for its automated filtering system designed to protect wild Atlantic salmon in Norway.
Developed under Huawei's TECH4ALL initiative with local partners Berlevåg Hunter and Fishermen's Association (BJFF), Simula Consulting, and Troll Systems, the award-winning solution is able to recognize different fish species and filter out pink salmon, an invasive species that is not native to Norway's rivers and has had a significant negative impact on native salmon.

The automated filtering solution comprises a river-spanning tunnel, underwater cameras, an automated gate, and an AI algorithm trained to recognize different fish species. When the system recognizes pink salmon, the gate remains closed and diverts the fish into a holding tank. For wild Atlantic salmon and other native species, the gate opens, allowing them to swim upstream to complete their spawning cycle.

June 5: Huawei Launches Apollo Version: The World's First 5.5G Commercial Release Based on Release 18

During the 2024 Huawei User Group Meeting (HUGM), Sun Rui, President of Huawei Wireless Solution R&D, launched the Apollo version — the world's first commercial 5.5G version based on 3GPP Release 18.
As the first global standard for 5.5G networks, Release 18 is widely expected to catalyze new value and services. Huawei Apollo version embodies the latest technology standards of Release 18 to spur the efficient evolution of 5G and push the frontiers of 5.5G capabilities, helping operators bridge the gap from 5G excellence to 5.5G leadership.
The Apollo version introduces intelligence to multi-band coordination, beam management, and energy saving, accelerating the efficient all-band transition to 5G.
It also incorporates several solutions that won GSMA GLOMO awards at MWC Barcelona 2024. For example, the RAN Digital Twin System won Best Network Software Breakthrough and the "0 Bit 0 Watt" solution won Best Mobile Technology Breakthrough.
