Feb 25: Huawei's FDD Tri-Band Massive MIMO Goes Global, Boosting 4G Capacity and 5G Experience

To help operators optimize the value of sub-3 GHz spectrum, Huawei started the global commercial deployment of its FDD tri-band Massive MIMO (1.8 GHz, 2.1 GHz, and 2.6 GHz). The aim is to enhance the 5G consumer service experience while satisfying the increasing demand for 4G network traffic and enabling traffic dividends.
Commercial development has started in several African countries, where operators found that the FDD tri-band Massive MIMO outperforms the conventional 4T4R solution by handling 90% more 4G traffic during busy hours, increasing user-perceived speeds by 320% and reducing physical resource block (PRB) usage by 50%. The solution will also be adopted soon by 15 countries across Asia Pacific, Central Asia, and Latin America.
