    Dec 12, 2025

Turkcell and Huawei have released the white paper AI WAN Evolution & Practice in AI Era, outlining best practices for enhancing network efficiency and accelerating monetization by speeding up AI integration across Turkcell's network.

Prior to the release, Turkcell validated the suitability of key AI WAN technologies, like AI-based energy saving and RDMA-based lossless WAN, marking a significant milestone in AI WAN evolution.

The carrier will now plan and test use cases for features such as ultra-broadband, intelligent computing, security, resilience, and intelligent O&M to ensure steady progress.

    Strategic alignment

The AI WAN white paper guides Turkcell in building an AI-powered intelligent network that enables the deep integration of computing power with networks. These efforts will address the growing demand for AI computing power from Türkiye's government and enterprises, while also supporting national goals like digital government, smart city, Industry 4.0, and FinTech, setting up Türkiye to become a digital and AI center in Eurasia.

The paper defines IP bearer network features in the AI era, focusing on key areas such as ultra-broadband, new connections, security, resilience, and intelligent O&M.

By leveraging 400GE/800GE ultra-broadband, SRv6, and slicing, this target network can ensure high-bandwidth, low-latency, and high-reliability connections for diverse services. And through lossless WAN, it can ensure efficient DC interconnections, enhance new computing power services, and advance AI computing networks.

Multi-level resilience will strengthen device and service security and stability, while ADN L4 will accelerate automated network operations and slash operating expenses.

    Intelligent evolution

Turkcell is following a multi-phase strategy for AI WAN evolution. In October 2025, the carrier—together with Huawei—validated the use of intelligent computing and AI-powered dynamic energy saving for data transfer to AI DCs, achieving RDMA-based lossless data transmission over a 120-km distance. In the future, Turkcell will test key use cases for functions like intelligent optical fiber monitoring, inter-AI DC collaboration, and training with local storage and remote computing, enhancing their competitive advantages for new services.

Turkcell will also focus on precise network construction, precise application charging, and experience assurance, aiming to continually improve its operational experience.

Through innovative, cutting-edge AI WAN technologies, Turkcell aims to drive intelligent network transformation, setting new benchmarks for operator digitization and leading industry advancements.
